Visakhapatnam: Maoists’ brutally killed a tribal by slitting his throat at Khajuripada village on the Andhra-Odisha border.

Reports from the Andhra-Odisha border said a group of armed Maoists killed a tribal after suspecting him a police informer in the Malkangir district late on Tuesday night.

According to sources, a group of 10 to 15 armed Maoists barged into the Khajuripada village in Chitrakonda block and asked Dasa Khemudi to come out of his house. Later, they took him to the outskirts of the village and slit his throat. Ultras also thrashed two villagers.

In another incident, a major tragedy was averted when Chintapalli police foiled an attempt of Maoists to plant a landmine on the road between Rallagadda and Korukonda in Balapam Panchayat of Chintapalli Mandal.

After receiving specific information, a police team was dispatched immediately to foil the bid. The team caught one person but his associates managed to flee. He was identified as Koda Krishna Rao of Labadampalli village of Balapam Panchayat.

ASP Chintapalli Vidhya Sagar Naidu said that CPI Maoist leaders Korra Nageswar Rao, Sudheer, and other militia committee members have been threatening contractors and employees and extorting huge funds from them.

He said that the police department has prepared a list of people who are helping the militia members to carry out anti-government activities in the area.
