Hyderabad: On May 1st, moderate rain recorded in parts of Telangana. According to a fresh forecast by the Indian Meterological Department, thunderstroms are likely to continue over isolated places of Telangana till May 5. Hyderabad will receive moderate rains, said the forecast.

In Telangana, apart from Hyderabad, Medchal, Yadadri, Sangareddy, Medak, Siddipet and Rangareddy will see light to moderate rains, the bulletin said.

Meteorologist Raja Rao from IMD-Hyderabad said, “Pre-monsoon showers re usual occurrences. Moreover, there is an upper air trough running over Telangana due to which rain can be expected for the next4-5 days.”

The forecast also predicted that maximum temperatures can touch 41-43 degree Celsius in some districts of Telangana.

The forecast said: “Thunderstorm with moderate rainfall and wind speed reaching 32 kmph or more is expected in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation area.” It also stated that the city will experience rains mostly during the evenings or night.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, Secunderabad experienced rainfall of 6.5 mm till 8:30 am today. It predicts a light rainfall of 2.5 mm to 15.5 mm today in Hyderabad.

Rayalaseema, Yanam and north coastal districts of Andhra Pradesh will experience moderate rainfall, said the forecast. The rainfall is likely to continue over these areas till May 5.

Mahesh Palawat of Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, said: “The trough is extending towards Maharashtra and hence, very light rains are expected over Telangana. The shower over Hyderabad is because of localized thunderstorm clouds, a phenomenon due to increasing temperature amid high humidity in the air. This patch rains occur for a short duration and we expect the weather to clear up in 2-3 days.” He added that there will also be a temperature rise by 2-3 degree Celsius in Telangana.

Forecast for Hyderabad: Day and night temperatures to be around 40 and 27 degrees respectively, while rain or thunder showers are likely to occur during the evening or night hours.
