Mentally unstable man kills parents in Tadepalligudem

West Godavari: In a shocking incident, a mentally unstable man murdered his parents by hitting their heads with an iron-rod at Kadiyadda village under Tadepalligudem Rural police station limits in West Godavari district on Tuesday morning.

The deceased are identified as Jalaparthi Nageswara Rao and his wife, Jalaparthi Marthamma. The accused, Jalaparthi Ramesh, fled from the spot after killing his parents.

Nageswara Rao and Marthamma were found in a pool of blood in their home with injuries on their face, head and few other parts. The double murder has sent shock waves among the residents of the village.

The police and locals said that 30-year-old Ramesh has been undergoing treatment for his mental condition for the past few years. A year ago, he underwent treatment at Government Hospital for Mental Care (GHMC) in Vizag city.

Prima facie it seems that mentally unstable Ramesh, murdered his parents when he came to know that his parents and others had decided to admit him to GHMC in Vizag again for treatment.

Hearing Nageswara Rao and Marthamma screaming in pain, the neighbours woke up with a shock and rushed to Nageswara Rao’s house, where they found the dead couple.

Though the neighbours tried to intercept the accused Ramesh, they feared catching him, citing that he might attack them.

Based on the information, the police reached the spot and shifted the dead bodies to the government hospital for an autopsy. The locals appealed to the police to capture the accused, Ramesh, as soon as possible since he might attack a few others.

"We have formed a special team to nab the accused Ramesh and alerted the police of neighbouring police stations also. Unless and until we apprehend the accused, it is difficult to ascertain the reasons behind the murders," the police officer said.

The locals said that Ramesh’s mental condition has further deteriorated, which is why he murdered his parents.
