Mimicry artiste Nerella Venumadhavs bronze statue unveiled at Warangal

Warangal: Greater Warangal Mayor Gunda Prakash said that Nerella Venumadhav was an iconic figure and respected for his talent not only in Warangal but by all the Telugu speaking diaspora. Nerella Venumadhav was a world renowned mimicry artiste, he added. Mayor was addressing a huge gathering in Hanamkonda on Saturday.

He along with Kakatiya Urban Development Authority (KUDA) chairman Marri Yadava Reddy unveiled a bronze statue of Venumadhav marking the 88th birth anniversary of Venumadhav.

The Mayor said apart from perfecting mimicry of Tollywood to Bollywood celebrities, he was endowed with special skills whereby he presented the voice part of English movie trailers along the music using his vocal cords.

Speaking on the occasion, KUDA chairman Yadava Reddy said that “We were fortunate to have such an eminent artiste from Warangal and his legacy will continue with the emergence of successive generations following his footsteps.”

Sahitya Academy winner Ampashayya Naveen recalled the creative performances of the man at various global platform. Member of Parliament Banda Prakash credited Venumadhav with shaping young artistes of unified AP into the profession of mimicking and ventriloquism with ease.

Later a cultural programme was organized to pay tributes to Venumadhav.
