Srikakulam: A minor girl who was studying intermediate first year was allegedly raped and brutally killed by some unidentified persons in Vajrapukotturu mandal on Sunday. Later they laid the dead body on the rail track. According to police, the deceased was identified as I.Sindhu, 16. Locals noticed the body on the track between Sunnadevi and Palasa railway stations. On information Palasa government railway police (GRP) rushed to spot and recovered the body.

GRP sub-inspector, K.RaviKumar said that initially we have registered case over the incident as suspicious death but later altered the FIR as raped and killed by unidentified accused basing on the complaint lodged by the father of the deceased girl, I.Eswara Rao. Basing on the information provided by the parents of the girl police launched investigation and reportedly took one accused into their custody by evening. But police not yet confirmed the arrest.

According to details the girl went out from her house by saying to her parents to answer nature’s call late night. But she did not return till morning and parents also not noticed it till morning. After learning about the killing of her daughter they worried and rushed to spot.

Leftist unions, women organizations and human rights forum (HRF) representatives strongly condemned the rape and killing.

They suspected known persons trapped the innocent girl and killed her.

They called for Palasa Bandh on Monday and also decided to conduct agitation against the incident and demanding quick action on accused.

‘Shocking incident occurred in revolutionary villages, all the accused should be punished under DISHA Act within 45 days’ human rights forum (HRF) AP state vice president, K.V.Jagannadha Rao and Srikakulam district vice president, Pothanapalli Kameswara Rao.
