More rains in store for Telangana, says weather department

Hyderabad: Several districts in Telangana, including Hyderabad experienced thunderstorms with moderate rain on April 9. As per the Indian Meterological Department's (IMD) weather forecast, light to moderate rains may be expected tomorrow as well.

In the weather warning issued for Telangana, the IMD stated that “Thunderstorm accompanied by hail storm, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely to occur at isolated places.” The districts include Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal-Malkajgiri, Sangareddy, Khammam, Jangaon, Mahabubnagar, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri, Nagarkurnool, Nalgonda, Suryapet, Jogulamba Gadwal, Wanaparthy, Mahabubabad, Warangal, Jaya Shankar Bhupalapalle, Bhadradri Kothagudem.

The weather forecast body has predicted thunderstorms over isolated places in the state on 10th April that is Friday as well. The maximum temperature at isolated places across Telangana is likely to hover around 40 degrees centigrade.

Mahesh Palawat of SkyMet, a private weather forecasting body said, "We can expect light to moderate rains tomorrow also, since the trough has extended from Jharkhand to Tamil Nadu. This is basically a pre-monsoon shower developed due to an anti-cyclone in the Bay of Bengal, leading to increasing moisture over Andhra and Telangana."

The IMD infers that the trough wind/discontinuity from Rayalaseema to South Tamil Nadu extending up to 0.9 kms above mean sea level now runs from the cyclonic circulation over east Madhya Pradesh and adjoining Chhattisgarh to south Tamil Nadu across east Vidarbha, Telangana and Rayalaseema.
