More rains in store for Telangana till 15th July

Hyderabad: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), on 13 July, predicted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning to occur at isolated places over Telangana till 15 July.

In its weather forecast, the IMD said heavy rain very likely to occur at isolated places of Adilabad, Nagarkurnool, Komaram Bheem, Mancherial, Nizamabad, Jagtial, Karimnagar, Paddapalli, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Medchal, Warangal Urban, Warangal Rural, Mahabubabad, Mahbubnagar, Khammam, and Bhadradri Kothagudem in the state.

The IMD warned that rainwater may pool on the roads in low-lying areas. The roads will be wet and slippery, it said, suggesting people restrict their movements.

Mahesh Palawat, the head of Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency, “Trough extends from eastern parts of Bihar to Telangana across Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. Due to this rain activities are going on. In North Telangana adjacent to Chhattisgarh will see moderate rain. After two days this trough will get weakened and will lead to a significant decrease in rain activities. There will be a significant reduction in rain activities after July 15.”

Meanwhile, heavy rainfall on Monday evening caused inundation in Telangana's Osmania General Hospital. In a video that has gone viral. It was seen that the water swamped inside the Osmania General hospital till the knee length. The ICU and six wards on the ground floor filled with water.

According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society, till 8:30 am on Tuesday, Saroornagar in the city received the highest rainfall of 37.5 mm, while Venkriyal of Yadadri Bhuvanagar received 107.5mm rainfall highest in the state.
