Nampally youth held for harassing woman through PUBG game

Hyderabad: Hyderabad police, on Saturday, arrested a 21-year-old Langar Houz resident for allegedly trapping and blackmailing a Nampally resident first-year degree student through PUBG. Reportedly, the accused, Salman Khan, a bike mechanic, befriended the victim through the mobile game and collected her pictures under the pretext of friendship.

Both of them are ardent PUBG lovers, and they got in contact a few weeks ago while playing the game. Days later, they exchanged WhatsApp numbers and have been in regular contact since then. Getting closer, Salman had collected her pictures, and he began to blackmail her once gaining confidence.

He demanded sexual favours from the victim, as he threatened to make her pictures public on social media platforms. She initially ignored his demands, but as days passed, he became more aggressive, insisting that she talk to him regularly over WhatsApp and send more pictures. As the harassment went beyond control, she informed her parents and approached the Cyber Crime police.

The police traced him and arrested him based on technical evidence. They seized his mobile phone and sent him to judicial remand.
