Mumbai: NCP Supremo Sharad Pawar sparked a new controversy by praising Pak in his speech. Speaking at an event on minorities at NCPs party office headquarter. Pawar heaped praises on Pakistan for its hospitality and blamed the central government for spreading a false narrative about Pakistan for political mileage.
Speaking in an event on minorities, Pawar said, “People here say Pakistanus are facing injustice and are unhappy but it is not true. Such statements are being said only for political gains without understanding the actual situation in Pakistan. Ruling party here is spreading false information for political gains.”
Adding to it, he said, “I have visited Pakistan and received hospitality there. Pakistanis believe that even if they can’t go to India to meet their relatives, they treat an Indian as their relative.”
Speaking on the centre’s recent decision of abrogation of article 370, the NCP supremo said that the article existed to give some special powers to the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir which was predominantly a Muslim state. “By scrapping article 370, the government wants to convey that they are opposing a minority state and in the process, this action of their will lead to more terrorism in the valley,” said pawar.
Pawar’s statement comes amid ongoing tension India and Pakistan over the Central government’s recent decision to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir which was granted under Article 370.
Meanwhile, this statement may haunt the NCP in upcoming assembly election of Maharashtra and would benifit the BJP in the electoral season.
