Need report about suicide of 25 intermediate students in TS: President

President Ram Nath Kovind on Tuesday has sought a report from the Telangana government about the reason behind the suicides committed by 25 students following the Intermediate examination results.

The President ordered that the Telangana government send him a detailed report on the situation that leads to the multiple suicides of the intermediate students. The report has been sought from the Chief Secretary of Telangana immediately.

The order by the President comes a few days after the BJP Telangana state president Dr Laxman along with a delegation, met the President in Delhi and submitted a petition in reference to the suicides of 27 intermediate students in Telangana state after the Intermediate results were announced.

K. Krishna Saagar Rao, chief spokesperson of the Telangana state BJP said, “The BJP has demanded a quick and accurate report from the government of Telangana state to the President of India. The TRS-led government in Telangana owes an explanation about the suicides of these youth that occurred due to the negligence and corrupt practices of the government.”

It may be recalled that the Telangana Intermediate Board results were announced on April 18, 2019, by the Telangana Intermediate Board of Education (TSBIE). The results lead to many protests by students and parents as three lakh students failed the exams and there were back to back suicides by students. All alleged negligence of the part of the board for the huge discrepancies.
