Nellore man arrested for obscene FB post against Minister Pushpa Srivani

Vizianagaram: Vizianagaram police on Saturday arrested 45-year-old JR Venkateswarulu for posting objectionable comments about Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Tribal Welfare PamulaPushpa Srivani on Facebook.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Parvathipuram, Sumit Garud said that Venkateswarulu neither belonged to any political party nor any organisation. Venkateswarulu posted objectionable comments about Ms Srivani along with her picture under the influence of alcohol on June 11, 2019.

Upset with the comments that defamed her on social media, she approached the police on October 20. Based on the complaint, the police registered a case and investigated.

The police have sent letters to Google, Facebook and others to trace the IP address and other details of the accused.

The investigation revealed that one Venkateswarulu, a resident of Bengaluru and native of Kavali in Nellore district posted the comments.

The police arrested Venkateswarulu under relevant Sections of IPC and IT Act in Bengaluru. The arrested was produced before the court and has been remanded.
