Nine drunk drivers heavily fined by Hyderabad court

Hyderabad: As many as nine drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol in different areas of Hyderabad. City court has taken a serious note of the drunk drivers, imposing hefty fines on them under the new Motor Vehicle Act. The drivers were fined Rs 10,500 each.

This comes at a time when the state government has kept the amended Motor Vehicle Act on hold. Traffic police officials opined that this punishment in the form of fines would stand as deterrence for those driving under the influence of alcohol.
