Hyderabad: Alleged negligence of the builder in maintaining a lift and taking precautionary measures to avoid mishaps claimed the life of a nine-year-old boy at Manikonda of Hyderabad. The boy identified as Dhanush while playing near the elevator, got his head stuck in it and died on Sunday.

According to police, the boy’s family, who were earlier residing at Masab Tank, recently moved into the PVS lake view apartment at Panchavati colony of Manikonda. Dhanush’s father, Shesha Bhattachary, is a priest and his mother is a homemaker. The third child to his parents, Dhanush, was playing near the lift on Sunday afternoon. While playing, he tried to open the elevator, but in the process, he was stuck.

He received severe injuries and died on the spot. Despite several mishaps involving lifts, in different parts of the city in the recent past, there are no strict guidelines for their installation and maintenance. Police registered a case and started an investigation
