No permission for Kanhaiah Kumars meeting in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police apparently denied permission for a public address by former Jawaharlal Nehru Students Union president and CPI national executive member Kanhaiya Kumar at Mehdipatnam on Monday, forcing the organisers to cancel the meeting.

CPI national secretary Dr K. Narayana, party's national executive member Ex-MP Syed Azeez Pasha, CPI TS secretary Chada Venkat Reddy and Siasat Urdu Daily editor Amer Ali Khan and leaders from several other political parties were to attend this meeting.

The CPI had organised the public meeting against CAA, NRC and NPR on Monday afternoon at Crystal Gardens Function hall at Mehdipatnam. As the venue comes under the jurisdiction of the West Zone of Hyderabad police, the party had submitted an application on January 8, seeking permission, to DCP West Zone. But it did not receive any response.

CPI sources said the DCP has ordered the Crystal Gardens management not to arrange any facilities for the meeting till further communication.

“Till now we had tried for permission but no response from Police Authorities. Without assistance of Crystal Gardens Management it is difficult to conduct the Meeting. So we decided to cancel the Public Meeting. We sincerely deeply regret the inconvenience caused and really appreciate one and all for your help and support,” CPI said in a media release on Sunday night.
