Officials arrested for taking bribe from retired attender

Warangal: Two officials working in SC Development Office in Jangaon were on Saturday arrested by Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sleuths while taking bribe of Rs 5,000 from a retired attender from the same office.

Ilaiah retired from service on January 31 last year. He urged officer Gattu Mallu and Superintendent Md Khadeeruddin to complete his pension formalities. However, they kept harassing him and did not oblige despite repeated appeals.

Finally, they both demanded Ilaiah to pay Rs 10,000 to process his work and streamline his monthly pension. Ilaiah complained to the ACB officials, who advised him to tell the officials that he would give half of the amount on Saturday. They asked him to come to Gattu Mallu’s office with the amount. Both the officials were caught red-handed while receiving the amount. ACB officials arrested them immediately. ACB DSP A Madhusudhan said the accused will be produced before the special ACB court soon.
