Two from Telangana among ten CAT toppers

Hyderabad: One Telangana student and nine others scored 100 percent marks in the Common Admission Test (CAT)-2019 for MBA admissions at IIMs and over 100 other B-schools. Among those in the 99.99 percentile bracket is Satwik Rao Kolluru from Hyderabad who is currently pursuing his final year civil engineering at IIT, Mumbai. While Satwik scored 99.99 percentile, Sameer Ahmed, an L&T employee from Rangareddy district secured 99.88 percentile. Sujith Ramagiri, a student and Partha Goswami, an alumnus of NIT Warangal are also in the 99the bracket.

All the ten toppers are men and from technological and engineering backgrounds. Officials said six are from IITs, two from NITs, one from Jadavpur University.

As many as 21 candidates scored 99.9 percent in CAT. Of them, 19 are with a technological background. IIM-Kozhikode announced the CAT results on Saturday.

Apart from the Telangana student, the top rankers include four from Maharashtra and one each from Jharkhand, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and Uttarakhand.

A total of 1.34 lakh men and 75,000 women, including five transgenders, took this year's CAT exam at 376 test centres in 156 cities in India. A total of 2,44,169 candidates had registered for the test as against 2,40,338 in the previous year. This exam saw a record number of candidates taking the test since 2008.

Female candidates accounted for 36 percent, but no one could make it to 100 percent mark. In CAT-2017, two women candidates and three with non-engineering background had stood among the top 20.

All those candidates who appeared for the CAT-2019 test can download their scorecards from www.iimcat.ac.in website, according to an official statement.
