Osmania medico jumps to death from apartment floor in LB Nagar

Hyderabad: A medico at Osmania Dental College in Hyderabad allegedly committed suicide on Tuesday. The victim, 25-year-old Sahiti, allegedly jumped from the 14th floor of the apartment, where they were living. She sustained multiple injuries and died on the spot, the police said. LB Nagar police registered a suspicious death case and started investigation.

Sahithi was studying final year BDS at Osmania Dental College and living at Alekhya Towers in LB Nagar along with her parents, Raghuram and Padma.

Due to the Covid-19 lockdown, she was at home only. On Tuesday afternoon, when her mother was busy with some work at home, she ran into the balcony, removed the protective grill and jumped from their flat in the 14th floor of the apartment complex and committed suicide.

The victim was aspiring for an MBBS seat, but was upset after she could not get it and had to settle for BDS instead. Not willing to study dental medicine further, she allegedly took the extreme step and committed suicide, her parents told the police.

LB Nagar police rushed to the spot and found the girl dead and shifted the body for post-mortem. They have also cordoned off the area and a clues team was pressed into service.

While Sahithi’s parents are clueless about the reasons behind the suicide, police are investigating into the case to ascertain the cause behind the extreme step.
