OU admin denies permissions to student organisations for public meetings in campus

Hyderabad: Osmania University authorities on Wednesday denied permission to student organisations to hold public meetings on the campus. This decision comes after several protests were held in the university campus in the wake of RTC strike.

The official statement released by the university states, “The administration stated that the premier university in Telangana and India had been established to impart higher education and conducting research in various disciplines. The primary objective of the university is purely academic and research-oriented.”

The university has also appealed to student organisations, research scholars, students, teaching and nonteaching staff to maintain peace in the university and not to disturb the academic ambience.

Recently, many student organisations from Osmania University conducted several unique protests in support.



The students were seen holding ‘Vanta Vaarpu’ by cooking and eating on roads on the college campus. Members of the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of OU were also seen standing in water as part of their protest in support of the RTC strike(University RTC Strike).
