Owner of Lisbon Restobar booked for sexually assaulting bar dancer

Hyderabad: The owner of Lisbon Restobar and Pub at Begumpet in Hyderabad was booked on Thursday for sexually assaulting a dancer. The dancer filed a complaint against Murali Krishna at the Punjagutta police station. The police then booked a case against Murali and have started an investigation.

This is not the first time the pub has come under the police radar. In the past, too, several cases were booked against the pub but no action was taken. Earlier, officers both from the task force and the Punjagutta police station had raided the pub and found that girls were illegally brought there to dance. The pub targeted men who came without a partner and were alone.

As per the law, bar dancers are not allowed in Telangana and a case can be booked against the bar management. Lisbon Restobar and Pub, a repeat offender, has been getting bar dancers for a long time yet no cases were booked against them.

In a similar case in December 2019, City Police Commissioner's task force sleuths of West zone raided Lisbon Restobar and Pub and took 31 pubgoers and three management staff into custody for resorting to indecent acts.

The Panjagutta police booked a case under Section 294 of the IPC which prescribes three months imprisonment for any obscene act in public place. The police alleged that the woman dancing were dressed indecently.
