Hyderabad: Despite the government’s strict lockdown orders, appeals to people to stay at home, and ban on prayers and religious services, a church pastor conducted Sunday prayers at Neredmet in Hyderabad.

Residents noticed people gathered for the prayers and alerted the police. As gatherings are banned during the lockdown to control the spread of Corona virus, the Neredmet police rushed to the spot and dispersed the crowd. Further, after ensuring that the place was cleared, the police counselled the people. Later, a case was registered against the pastor under Section 188 of the IPC for violating the lockdown orders.

Following the government lockdown orders, several churches and church leaders had appealed to Christians to not step out during the shutdown. Further, many churches have come up with online prayer ceremonies where prayers are live telecast through various online platforms.
