Pawan Kalyan condemns attack on junior doctors by police

Popular Tollywood actor and Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan condemned the attitude of the government towards the junior doctors protesting against the National Medical Commission (NMC) Bill.

In an official statement, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said, "It is unfortunate that the agitating junior doctors have been kicked and manhandled. It is unfair on the part of the government to behave in this manner towards the youth. These doctors are doing an enormous service to the people in government hospitals. Instead of responding and trying to solve their demands, the administration is attacking them.”

The Jana Sena leader said, “It is the responsibility of the government to initiate a dialog with the doctors over the NMC Bill.”

The government should take immediate steps over the incidents that took place in Vijayawada and Tirupati and efforts should be made to instill confidence in the young doctors and the medical students, Mr. Kalyan added.

The Jana Sena chief raised the issue after a video of DCP Harshvardhan slapping a protesting medico in Vijayawada went viral on social media on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh DGP has ordered a departmental inquiry into the case.
