Bhadrachalam: The Bhadrachalam police booked a case against a doctor on 30 August for allegedly raping a nurse who works at the Government General Hospital, Bhadrachalam.

On 24 August, the doctor, Danoth Reddy, reportedly went to the victim’s house and raped her. The nurse told the police that the doctor had been harassing her for the past few weeks. The incident came to light when the victim’s parents filed a complaint at the Bhadrachalam town police station on Saturday. The police are on the lookout for the doctor who is absconding.

An official of the government hospital said, “The accused, who is a contract doctor, resigned from the hospital two days before the FIR was filed. No complainant regarding this was filed with us. We would have taken action against him immediately if it had been brought to our notice.”

Vinod Reddy, the CI of Bhadrachalam town police station, said, "We have registered a complaint under Section 376 of the IPC against the doctor. We are on the lookout for the accused. The nurse has been sent for medical examination and the investigation is underway."
