Police humiliated us, told our daughter eloped: Father of vet doctor

Hyderabad: In what can be called one of the most brutal crimes in recent times, Disha (name changed) was gang-raped and murdered in the city outskirts. Local populace found her charred body beneath the culvert near the Hyderabad-Bengaluru NH44 at Shadnagar .

In a recent development, police have detained four individuals — two drivers Mohammed Areef and Naveen, and two cleaners Keshavulu and Shiva — for the heinous crimes.

Ever since the horrifying incident took place, Disha’s family has been in a state of shock. Meanwhile, Telangana Minister for Animal Husbandry, Fisheries and Cinematography Talasani Srinivas Yadav met the victim’s family at their residence.

The National Commission of women said that Telangana Police have humiliated girls parents by saying that their girl might have eloped, when they asked about the police, about their missing girl.

During the meeting, Disha’s father alleged that the police did not respond appropriately while they were searching for her. “The police didn’t respond properly. I had to go to the spot and search for my daughter, to see whether she was alive or not,” he said. While the mother alleged that the police made them round-around citing jurisdiction.

In his conversation with Disha’s sister, the minister inquired about her phone call with Disha at the time. The sister said, “She said that she was feeling scared and asked me to talk to her for some time. She mentioned that there were strangers nearby and didn’t say anything in detail. However, Disha did mention that someone had taken her bike.”

Answering the minister’s question, the sister added that before this incident, Disha never informed her of ever being scared.
