Police rescue five member family stranded in Chittoor forest

Chittoor: The Vayalpadu police, on 23 February, rescued a family after they lost their way and were stranded in the forest near Veerannakonda. According to the police, a woman and her four children, including three girls, visited Veerabhadra Swamy temple near Veerannakonda on Saturday. They lost their way in the deep forest while returning home. They immediately called 100 and the police responded instantly and rescued them.

After the woman, Haritha, called 100, the Chittoor Command Control room received the complaint at around 4.04 p.m and they immediately informed the Vayalpadu police. Vayalpadu sub-inspector Venkateswarlu deputed the blue colts team and launched a search operation in the forest area.

A search team, including police constables Mohammad Ali, Jaya Chandra, and a home guard Baba, searched the area for more than one-and-a-half hour. Once they had located the family, they took them to the police station at around 5.30 p.m where they were reunited with their relatives. The Chittoor superintendent of police, Mr S. Senthil Kumar, appreciated the timely efforts of the Vayalpadu police.

The Chittoor police have, meanwhile, appealed to the people to dial 100 or send a message to 9440900005 on WhatsApp in case of any emergencies. Eighty-one blue colt teams and 14 rakshak mobile teams are available in the district in case of such emergencies, it said.
