Prashanth to step into Ayushmann’s shoes for Tamil remake of Andhadhun

Hyderabad: After much speculations, the news about the Tamil remake of Andhadhun has been confirmed. Earlier, many had reported that a director had been roped in for this film, but there was no confirmation.

First, it was speculated that Dhanush and Siddharth were interested in playing the lead role. But now, the news is that actor Prashanth’s father Thiagarajan has apparently bagged the remake rights of the film. Sources claim that Prashanth will be playing the lead role in the film. Interestingly, like the lead character in the film, Prashanth is also a pianist and so, a lot of things are going to be easy for him in the film. A photograph of Thiagarajan with Sriram Raghavan has gone viral on social media.

Popular director Mohan Raja has been roped in to direct the project. His recent flick was Velaikaran, which released in 2017. He played a cameo in Vijay Sethupathi’s Yadhum Oore Yavarum Kelir. This film will be produced under the banner Staar Movies. Also, Prashanth has signed another movie, which is going to be directed by A Venkatesh and is yet to go on floors. The actor will either simultaneously shoot for both the films or might begin shooting for the remake project first and then go for the other one. An official confirmation from the makers on the details and cast is awaited.

Andhadhun was directed by Sriram Raghavan and besides Ayushmann Khurrana, the film has Radhika Apte, Tabu and others in key roles. The director won National Award for Best Screenplay and Ayushmann bagged National Award for Best Actor. This crime thriller is worth watching again and again, and will never make you feel bored.

Andhadhun was scripted by Raghavan, Arijit Biswas, Pooja Ladha Surti, Yogesh Chandekar and Hemanth Rao. IMDB rated this thriller as the most popular film according to user ratings for the year 2018. Made under a budget of Rs 32 crores, the film went on to collect Rs 111 crores at the box office. It was not just a commercial success but also won critical acclaim.
