Prayers offered at Chilkur Balaji Temple to ward off Corona virus

Hyderabad: Over 2,000 devotees attended a special prayer at Chilkur Balaji Temple in Hyderabad to ward off the deadly Corona virus.

The Apamarjana Puja was offered to the Hindu deity Vishnu. During the prayer, priests recited a few slokas from Apamarjana Stotram and Sudarshana Ashtakam. It is believed that these slokas purifies a person’s body and mind, thus helping him get rid of all illnesses.

The priests recited the slokas for 45 minutes and later sprinkled the holy ‘ganga jal’ (water from river ganges) on the devotees. They also narrated the importance of God Vishnu’s weapon Sudarsahnachakra after the end of the puja.

Chilkur Balaji Temple chief priest C.S Rangarajan recently made headlines when he said all deities should get citizenship under the new Citizenship Amendment Act. The temple, also known as Visa temple, is famous among Hyderabadi’s as it is believed that offering prayers at the temple leads to Visa approvals.
