Pregnant woman from Bhadradri Kothagudem carried to hospital in 'doli'

The woman, Kovvasi Aithe, was carried to a hospital in Cherla Village in a 'doli' by her husband, health workers, and a few family members for delivering the child.
It was found that the family could not contact an ambulance for transporting the woman to hospital, as there was no mobile network in the village. By the time they were successful in contacting one,the health worker along with Aithe’s mother had already delivered the child. Later, Aithe and the newborn male child were shifted to hospital in the ambulance.
According to health officials from the district, Aithe belonged to Yerrampadu village in Charla mandal, located in the interior forest areas. On Saturday when she developed labour pain, her husband Kovvasi Masa and others prepared a ‘doli’ to carry her. With assistance from health worker Somamma, they put her in the doli and carried her.
After walking for around three kilometers, when they reached the neighboring Chennaram village, they contacted the ambulance service.
The mother and child are healthy now, the officials told media persons.
