Jangaon: Hospital authorities have ordered a probe after a doctor attended to his duties despite testing positive for COVID 19 at Jangoan.

While the doctor discharged his duties wearing a PPE kit, the news sent shivers across the patients and the staff. Most of the people were not aware of the development. Later it was found that the doctor was asymptomatic.

Sources said the doctor and his family had undergone tests after one the members developed mild symptoms. The doctor confirmed that he and his wife had been tested positive in the Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Tuesday.

The doctor however said when he received the test report, he immediately informed his superiors. In response, he was told that there were many COVID patients in the hospital undergoing treatment and that he can also continue duty wearing a PPE kit.

Hospital Superintendent Dr. Chandramouli told media persons that as per the guidelines any COVID positive person has to remain under home isolation for 14 days. Likewise, the COVID positive doctor was also directed to be under home isolation.

“However, I was not aware that the COVID positive doctor had attended to duties even after testing positive. We will inquire into the incident. We will try to figure out how he attended to duties and on whose instructions he took the decision,” he said.
