Problem solver to Father figure, cricket fraternities final tribute to Jaitley 

New Delhi: Former Finance minister and veteran BJP leader Arun Jaitley lost a battle to prolonged illness on Saturday afternoon at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, leaving people across the country in grief.

Jaitley, a stalwart, was a tall figure in distinguished fields. As a politician, lawyer to a cricket administrator, he had his share of fine stint in all the areas.

The former Finance minister was very passionate for cricket and has served as the Vice-president of The Board of Control for Cricket in India, Governing Council member of the Indian Premier League and was also at the helm of the Delhi & District Cricket Association.

Just after the reports broke out of Jaitley's demise, condolences and tributes started to pour in. Among cricket fraternities, Virender Sehwag termed him as 'Problem Solver' while Gautam Gambhir said Jaitley was a 'Father Figure' to him.

India's former opener Sehwag wrote on Twitter, "Pained at the passing away of #ArunJaitley ji. Apart from having served greatly in public life, he played a huge role in many players from Delhi getting an opportunity to represent India. There was a time when not many players from Delhi got a chance at the highest level"

"But under his leadership at the DDCA, many players including me got a chance to represent India. He listened to the needs of the players & was a problem solver. Personally shared a very beautiful relationship with him. My thoughts & prayers are with his family & loved ones. Om Shanti."

Meanwhile, cricketer-turned-politician Gambhir wrote, "A father teaches u to speak but a father figure teaches u to talk. A father teaches u to walk but a father figure teaches u to march on. A father gives u a name but a father figure gives u an identity. A part of me is gone with my Father Figure Shri Arun Jaitley Ji. RIP Sir."

Jaitley's mortal remains moved to his residence and then on Sunday, it will be kept at the BJP headquarters for final tributes. Later, cremation will take place on Nigambodh Ghat.

Indian team to wear black armbands

Virat Kohli & Co. will be wearing black armbands when they take the field on the third day (Saturday) of the ongoing first Test against the West Indies at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua as a mark of respect for the former BCCI Vice-President Arun Jaitley.
