Death of BTech Student: Rachakonda cops arrested owners of Hasten Go-Karting

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Meerpet police on October 9 arrested the accused persons in connection of the death of the girl who died during go-karting on Thursday.

Police arrested Gurram Lohith Reddy and Modini Kiran Kumar the managing partner of Hasten Go-Karting, and a worker of Hasten Go-Karting, Sri Kongara Srikanth.

An engineering student, Kapa Varshini, 21 died at a go-karting play zone at Gurram Guda, near here, after her hair got tangled in the go-kart wheel on Thursday. She suffered serious head injuries.

Police said that “the accused Gurram Lohith Reddy and Modini Kiran Kumar are running Go-Karting on the name and style of Hasten Go-Karting without having any valid license from concerned authorities and also they did not take safety precautionary measures with negligent manner.”

Police also alleges that Kongara Srikanth allows customers without giving and checking precautionary and safety measures.

“They did not obey instructions and guidelines of State and Central Government which are issued in lockdown period due to Covid-19 Pandemic,” said police.

Kapa Varshini, along with her brother and relatives, went to Hasten Go-Karting for a ride. The accused allowed them without giving safety and precautionary measures to them.

While she along with her uncle were riding an open four wheels go-karting car, meanwhile her helmet dislocated from her head then her hair tangled in a backside wheel of Go-karting car, due to which her head hit the head-rest of the seat strongly; as a result, she received injuries. Immediately she was shifted to Aware Gleneagles Global Hospital, LB Nagar for treatment. While undergoing treatment, she succumbed to injuries.

Police alleged that due to the negligence of the accused, she has died.

On October 9, Meerpet police apprehended and arrested the accused and produced them before the court for judicial remand. Executive Magistrate cum Tahsildar Balapur Mandal has seized the Hasten Go-Karting.
