Rachakonda police orders probe after audio clip of SI abusing migrant workers go viral

Hyderabad: A leaked audio clip purportedly of a police sub-inspector using derogatory language against migrant workers has sullied the image of police in Hyderabad.

Identified as Ranga Reddy, the police sub-inspector is heard in the clip using cuss words against the migrant workers.

The incident occurred at Chaitanyapuri police station. Migrant workers had gone to the station for travel registration.

When one of the workers' questioned the police officer for his behavior, he threatened him with dire consequences.

Amid the conversation, another person believed to be an advocate supported the cop and threatened the worker.

Feeling insecure, the worker is heard saying that he will approach the Human Rights Commission. Unfazed, the officer raised the pitch and threatened him with dire consequences.

The incident comes at a time when the image of Chaitanyapuri police have taken a hit after a video of inspector hackling a local leader at fruit Mandi became viral

Feeling the heat, the police higher-ups have gone into a damage control mode. Rachakonda commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat has directed DCP LB Nagar Sunpreet Singh to inquire into the allegations against the Inspector.

ACP LB Nagar S Jayaram has been tasked to inquire into the alleged audio clip of SI Ranga Reddy and submit a report at the earliest.
