Rachakonda SI’s son commits suicide in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: A 24-year-old pursuing Masters in Australia, allegedly committed suicide at his residence in Vanasthalipuram here. The victim, Rachamalla Sai Tharun, was the younger son of Sub-Inspector R Shankaraiah working with Rachakonda commissionerate. He was found hanging at his residence on Sunday morning.

According to police, Sai Tharun completed his engineering in the city and went to Australia for his Masters. A month ago, he came home for vacation. He was planning to leave this week and had also booked flight tickets.

Meanwhile, on Saturday night, he complained of ill-health and went to a nearby hospital for check-up. He returned home, had dinner and went to sleep. On Sunday morning, he woke up, spoke to his parents and elder brother. After sometime, they got engaged with their daily chores.

His parents were in one bedroom, the brother in the other while Tharun was in the hall. After sometime, when his parents came out, they found him hanging to the ceiling fan in the hall. He was brought down and rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he was declared brought dead.

While parents had no clue to what drove him to suicide, police are probing from different angles. It is suspected that he took the extreme step, not willing to leave his parents. No suicide note was found at the spot.

Police are enquiring his parents and brother to know if he had shown any symptoms or any abnormal behaviour on Saturday night or Sunday morning. A case has been registered at Vanasthalipuram police station.
