Hyderabad: A huge tree that was uprooted due to heavy rain on Tuesday evening claimed the life of a motorist at Bollarum on the city outskirts. A portion of the tree located beside the road fell on Jangili Yellaiah, who was passing through the road on his moped.

53-year-old Yellaiah, a resident of Jawahar Nagar was working as a daily labourer. On Tuesday evening after work, he purchased vegetables and was returning home on his moped. Midway, while passing by a decades-old tree, it was suddenly uprooted due to the rains and a portion of it fell on Yellaiah. He sustained injuries and died on the spot.

Inquiries revealed that the tree was very old and was uprooted due to continuous rains.
