Raktacharitra Suri’s killer convicted M Bhanu Kiran alias Bhanu, close aide turned killer of congress leader Maddelacheruvu Suri, was convicted in an arms act case registered against him in 2002. Bhanu is already serving a life term for Suri’s murder. In 2002, Bhanu was arrested for possessing a pistol illegally and 5 live rounds of ammunition. He however filed a false petition before the court, stating that he was having a valid license for the seized pistol from District Collector, Khammam. The court considered his petition and released the weapon and live ammunition. The pistol and ammunition were deposited with the authorised armoury at Abids, without producing authentic document with the collusion of Syed. Rafiq Ahmad who runs the armory. Inquiries revealed that the weapon license was cancelled by the District collector, Khammam in March 2009. As a result, the court sentenced him to imprisonment for 3 months and also imposed a fine of Rs 12,000.
