Ran over by speeding van in Kukatpally, class II succumbs to injuries

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a class II student who was returning home from school was run over by a speeding pick-up van at Kukatpally in Hyderabad on Thursday. The victim identified as P Rishitha sustained severe injuries and succumbed on her way to the hospital, said police officials.
According to the police, Rishitha (7) and her elder sister Jahnavi were returning from their school St Rita High School in Kukatpally on Thursday evening when the incident occurred. Both of them were travelling on foot and midway while crossing the road, Rishitha tripped and fell and was ran over by a speeding pick-up van TS08 UD 8718. She sustained severe injuries behind her head. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared brought dead.
Police registered a case against the van driver Hemachalam and seized the vehicle for further inquiry.
