Ratan Tata pledges Rs 500 crore to fight coronavirus

Hyderabad: Joining the fight against coronavirus, chairman of Tata Trusts and Emeritus Tata Sons Ratan Tata pledged to donate Rs 500 crore for manufacturing of personal protective equipment, respiratory systems, testing kits, setting up modular treatment facilities and training of health workers.

“The COVID 19 crisis is one of the toughest challenges we will face as a race. The Tata Trusts and the Tata group companies have in the past have risen to the needs of the nation. At this moment, the need of the hour is greater than any other time,” Ratan Tata tweeted



"In this exceptionally difficult period, I believe that urgent emergency resources need to be deployed to cope with the needs of fighting the COVID 19 crisis, which is one of the toughest challenges the human race will face,” he said.

Not only Ratan Tata. Mukesh Ambani donated Rs 5 crore to Maharashtra Chief Minister Relief Fund and announced that Reliance Industries will manufacture around one lakh Masks per day and other safety equipment’s used by health workers.

Meanwhile Vedanta Resources Executive Chairman Anil Agarwal also committed Rs.100 crores to the coronavirus fund.
