Despite criticism by opposition leaders and MPs against abolishing of article 370 in the house on Monday, many parties and senior leaders in the country came in support of Indian's govt decision concerning Jammu & Kashmir. Regional parties like YSRCP, Bodoland People’s Front (BDF), TRS and TDP supported the J&K Reorganisation Bill, which provides for the formation of the Union Territory of Ladakh without legislature and a separate one for Jammu and Kashmir with the legislature.

Surprisingly, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu who broke alliance with BJP over special status also supported scrapping of Article 370. He tweeted, "Telugu Desam Party supports the Union Govt as it seeks to repeal Article 370. I pray for the peace and prosperity of the people of J&K".

Even Naidu's son Nara Lokesh came in support of Union govt's decision. He tweeted, "I welcome the decision of the Union Govt to scrap Article 370. I hope that the people of J&K witness peace and development".

NDA allies Shiv Sena, AIADMK and SAD also backed the government move amid a massive uproar by the Opposition. Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal's tweet supporting govt's move surprised many. He also stated that his party supported the Centre’s decisions on Jammu and Kashmir. He tweeted “We hope this will bring peace and development in the state,” the chief minister tweeted.

BJP’s Bihar ally JD(U), which had also opposed the Triple Talaq Bill, staged a walkout as soon as Home Minister Amit Shah moved the resolution on Article 370 as also the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Bill 2019.

Besides JD(U), Congress, TMC, DMK, PDP, CPM, RJD and Vaiko’s MDMK strongly opposed the move, with members creating a ruckus in the House and shouting slogans like ‘We want justice’ and ‘Don’t divide Kashmir’.
