Relatives beat man to death for misbehaving with niece

Visakhapatnam: A man was murdered by his relatives for allegedly misbehaving with a girl on Sunday. The incident took place at Rajam village under the Butchiyyapeta police station limits in Visakhapatnam district on Sunday at midnight.

The victim has been identified as Y. Sanyasi Naidu, an agriculture laborer who lives in the village.

The police said that Sanyasai Naidu allegedly misbehaved with his niece on Sunday evening when the girl was passing by his house. The girl informed her family, who then went to Naidu’s house and beat him resulting in his death. During the process Naidu's wife Sanyasamma also received injuries.

Naidu's murder led to massive protest from his relatives, family members and friends at midnight on Sunday. They demanded the arrest of the accused persons. As the situation turned tense, deputy superintendent of police, Anakapalle K. Sravani, inspector of Chodavaram, K. Eswara Rao and Butchiyyapeta police rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.

The police arrested five persons in connection with the case and shifted the body to the Government Hospital for post-mortem.
