Hyderabad: In a major haul, sleuths of customs intelligence unit on Friday seized 1.38 kgs of cocaine from a Guatemalan woman at the Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bangalore.

Swinging into action soon after getting a tip-off, the sleuths waited for the arrival of Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-690 from Addis Ababa. She was suspected of concealing narcotic substances in her body.

Although, officials of Customs intelligence unit, airport and air cargo complex Commissionerate intercepted the passenger on March 2, the arrest happened on Friday after four days of grilling after she was detained. On interrogation, she confessed that she had swallowed 150 capsules and concealed them in a tube-like structure in her private parts, which was revealed during medical examination.

Closer scrutiny revealed cocaine concealed inside the tube. It weighed 1.385 kgs, which is valued at a staggering Rs 8.31 crore in the international market. It is supposedly the biggest haul of the banned substance at KIA.

She has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
