Sainik Welfare Dept celebrates Armed Forces Flag Day

Hyderabad: The Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Hyderabad and all the ten regional sainik welfare offices celebrated Armed Forces Flag Day involving ex-servicemen, their families and NCC cadets on Saturday.

The novelty factor was painting the entrance and side walls of Sainik Aramghar complex, Hyderabad in association with employees from Synchrony Financial Services.

The day was celebrated across districts by District Collectors, Superintendents of Police, Regional Sainik Welfare officers, staff and ex-servicemen along with their families.

Rallies were organized at various places and funds were raised for contribution to the Armed Forces Flag Day fund.

Governor and Chairperson of Armed Forces Flag Day Fund, Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan, inaugurated the celebrations by presenting trophies to Hyderabad region for collecting an amount of Rs 52 lakh. The award was received by Sreenesh Kumar and staff. A trophy was also presented to Nizamabad for collecting Rs 12 lakh, which was received by Sri Narottam Reddy and staff.

Like the Governor, Home Minister of Telangana, Mahmood Ali, also donated for the Fund to mark the occasion.

Col Ramesh, Director of Sainik Welfare, thanked donors and all those who were actively involved in the day’s proceedings. He also thanked Deputy Director General (DDG) NCC, Battalion commanders and NCC cadets for their unflinching support in organizing Armed Forces Flag Day.
