Samantha’s glimpse from Jaanu raises expectations for the film

Hyderabad: The Telugu remake of ’96 has been in the news since it was announced. Tentatively titled Jaanu, the remake has Sharwanand and Samantha Akkineni in the lead roles. Prem Kumar, director of the original version, also helms the Telugu remake. The film, which went on floors earlier this year, will be wrapped up soon.

Meanwhile, Samantha, who wrapped up shooting, took to Instagram to share a glimpse of her role from the film. She captioned the image, “And it’s a wrap!! Another special film and a role that has challenged me to be better than I was yesterday…blessed to work with a team that manages to create magic every day…Thankyou @premkumardop and #sharwanand for being my dream team…#Janu ... living my best life ...grateful always (sic).”

Jaanu has been shot in Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Maldives, and Kenya. The film tells the story of a wildlife photographer who visits his school in his hometown and gets nostalgic. During a reunion with his classmates, he meets his childhood crush, and they go down the memory lane. They relive all their memories and realise how strong their bond is.

Expectations for this film are huge, and Samantha’s involvement has considerably raised it. The actress has been putting her best efforts to make the Telugu remake into a success. Besides, she has described the film’s team as a “dream team”.

Jaanu also marks the first project where Sharwanand and Samantha are collaborating. Dil Raju is producing the film under his banner Sri Venkateswara Creations. Govind Vasantha Menon, the youngster who composed music for the original, has been roped in for Jaanu as well. Sirivennela Seetharama Sastry is on board the remake to write lyrics.
