Hyderabad: Satellite images captured around noon on Sunday showed very thin traffic movement on the streets of Hyderabad during Janta Curfew.

Streets were deserted and people largely remained indoors in an attempt to contain the spread of coronavirus. Few vehicles were seen plying on the streets.

Most of the busiest places in the city including Khairatabad X roads, Ameerpet, Lakdi ka Pul junction, GVK One Mall near Banjara Hills, and Abids Circle were deserted. Traffic police officials were seen holding placards which read: “Good citizens support Janta Curfew”.

Even usually crowded areas such as JNTU and Kukatpally were wearing a deserted look. At the same time, passengers unaware of the Janta Curfew were left confused at the Secunderabad Railway station.

On March 19, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had urged the people to observe Janta Curfew for breaking the chain of deadly coronavirus.

Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao called for 24-hour Janta Curfew from 6A M to 6 AM. He said that public transport, both RTC, and Metro will be available only on emergency.

Public transport largely was off the roads across the nation. Railways and airlines were suspended in New Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai and Bangalore.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, India recorded its 6th death due to coronavirus. Two people -- a 63-year-old from Mumbai and a 38-year-old from Patna --succumbed on Sunday. The total number of positive cases in India has touched 341. Of whom 280 are Indians.

According to the Telangana government, there are a total of 27 positive coronavirus cases in the state. Six of them were tested positive on Sunday.
