SCR responds to tweet threatening suicide over ALP joining date

Hyderabad: On 29 August, a Twitter user had, in a tweet, threatened to commit suicide if he could not join as assistant loco pilot (ALP) in the South Central Railways before 6 September.

In the tweet, they threatened that they will commit suicide outside Sanchalan Bhavan if they were not informed about the joining date of CEN01/2018 batch.

The man with the username 'EkBerojgarALP' had tweeted, “If I do not get to join before September 6th, then I will commit suicide in front of DRM office at Sanchalan Bhavan, Secundrabad. I am looking for ALP CEN01/2018 joining.”

After the tweet received a huge response, the South Central Railway replied and said that recruitment has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Due to restrictions imposed as part of the preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, training for all the newly recruited ALPs in SCR through Railway Recruitment Boards, under CEN01/ 2018, has been temporarily put on hold,” it said.

The SCR further clarified that updates on the training schedule will be informed soon.
