The department issued orders on Wednesday directing District Collectors to provide foolproof police security at revenue offices to prevent future recurrence of such incidents. The department asked collectors to keep ready fire-fighting equipment and install CCTV cameras at all revenue offices.
According to special orders issued by Somesh Kumar, Special Chief Secretary of Revenue, the District Collectors were asked to procure CCTV cameras with the extent of funds available with them. Particular time should be identified to receive grievances from the public, and all revenue employees should be available at the office at that time, the orders said.
They were also asked to sensitise revenue staff on important legislations. The government order came after revenue staff threatened to go on strike from this week if the authorities failed to provide adequate security arrangements at the offices.
The revenue staffs announced to call off their strike after the government assured them of their safety and security.
