Services of domestic helps can be resumed: GHMC

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has asked all the gated communities and Resident Welfare Associations to take necessary precautions before resuming domestic help services.

The GHMC, in a statement on Tuesday, said that it is on the residents of a society to decide on whether or not to resume domestic help services in their society, but if they resume, strict regulations must be followed to maintain hygiene.

The GHMC said that both the employers and maids should wear masks while working and follow other hygiene protocols like using sanitisers and physical distancing. The Corporation said that as offices and cab services have resumed, maids can also get back to work if the employers decide to resume their work, according to GHMC Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar.

Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, on Monday, said that all offices and alternate shops following odd-even rule can be opened.

Meanwhile the RTC buses have resumed services in other districts, expect Hyderabad. Cab and auto rickshaws have also been asked to function in all districts of the state.

“All commercial establishments, factories, manufacturing units are permitted to re-open in green zones. However, restrictions will continue in containment zones housing 1,452 families, KCR told mediapersons.

Salons and e-commerce websites can also resume work from Tuesday. Salons were seen open this morning and the barbers were seen taking all the precautionary measures to avoid spread of

Covid-19.

“There is no clarity on when vaccine for coronavirus will be in the market, we have no option but to live with the virus. Families are advised not ensure that children and elderly don’t venture out unless it is emergency, KCR added.

As of May 19, a total of 1,592 Covid-19 cases were recorded in Telangana and under the GHMC limits, 26 new cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
