Shabad Inspector demands Rs 1 lakh bribe for him Rs 20 K for ASI, trapped

Hyderabad: Sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau, arrested Shabad Inspector of police B Shankaraiah and Assistant Sub-Inspector K Rajender for demanding a bribe of Rs 1.20 lakh from an agriculturalist. The duo was caught red-handed in the station premises on 9th July.

Investigators told Newsmeter, that the accused cops demanded bribe from the complainant V Vijay Mohan Reddy to execute a court order in connection with a land dispute case. " The man's paternal uncle owned 4.5 acres of agriculture land in Solipet village, Shabad Mandal of Ranga Reddy district. Complainant Vijay Mohan Reddy entered into a purchase agreement with his uncle, however, it came to a halt with the land lord's (uncle) death, a family dispute followed. Meanwhile, the spouse of the deceased sold the land to another party. Vijay Mohan approached the court and was issued an injunction order".

The ACB officer further added, "When the complainant approached the Shabad Inspector of police requesting them to execute the court order, the accused demanded Rs 1.20 lakh".

The ACB officials laid a trap on Thursday, the ASI and Inspector both were caught red-handed accepting the bribe. "During interrogation, the Assistant Sub-inspector admitted that Rs 1 lakh was for the inspector and Rs 20,000 for him" the officer added.
