Shift COVID isolation ward from OGH, Telangana junior doctors tell government

Hyderabad: The Telangana Junior Doctors' Association, in a letter to state health minister Eatala Rajender, requested that the isolation ward for suspected COVID-19 patients be moved from Osmania General Hospital (OGH).

In the letter, the doctors said the OGH was the only fully-operating tertiary care hospital. They said the isolation ward was near the casualty premises and the COVID patients were infecting other patients. The doctors also demanded the recruitment of specialist doctors and senior residents.

The junior doctors also asked the government to issue an order stating that if any postgraduate medical student, intern, or doctor is infected then s/he will be treated at NIMS. They demanded PPE kits, N95 masks, and other protective gear claiming they were still scarce. Accommodation for day scholars and a 15 per cent hike in their stipend were some of their other demands.
