Shilpa Shetty welcomes new daughter Samisha amid rumours of surrogacy

Hyderabad: Shilpa Shetty and her husband announced the arrival of their daughter, whom they have named Samisha. Born on 15 February, Samisha is the actor's second child with her industrialist husband Raj Kundra. The actor explained the meaning of her daughter’s name as an amalgamation of the Sanskrit word 'Sa' which means 'to have' and the Russian word 'Misha' which means 'someone like God'. “You personify this name - our Goddess Laxmi, and complete our family. Please bestow our angel with all your love and blessings. Ecstatic parents: Raj and Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Overjoyed brother: Viaan-Raj Kundra,” the actor had tweeted.

Shilpa Shetty and her husband chose the auspicious day of Mahashivratri to announce the birth of their daughter to the world. Curiously, Shilpa Shetty was not seen off late with a baby bump. It is still unclear whether she and her husband had opted for adoption or surrogacy. A lot of media reports suggest that she opted for surrogacy, although there is no official confirmation yet.

The actor is a doting mother to her elder son Viaan-Raj Kundra who features in many of her posts and videos. She has always been a strong advocate of yoga and has a series of tutorial videos. More recently, she took to posting videos of healthy recipes on her Youtube channel. She has even started posting Tik Tok videos. There is no doubt that her videos will be all the more fun to watch with her new bundle of joy featuring in them along with her big brother.

A lot of B-town biggies have opted for surrogacy. Aamir Khan's son Azad Rao Khan and Shahrukh Khan's son Abram Khan were born through surrogacy. In the south, actress Lakshmi Manchu is also known to have opted for surrogacy. Susmitha Sen is a loving mother to her two adopted daughters, Renee and Alisah.
