Shruthi Haasan’s sarcastic take on Aarey forest receives flak
By Bhavana Published on 7 Oct 2019 7:03 PM GMTHyderabad: Film actors and public figures are pouring down their support and venting out their anger on social media after Mumbai authorities have begun cutting down trees in Aarey Colony for a metro car shed. This happened mere hours after Bombay High Court dismissed all petitions against felling of trees.
Actress Shruthi Haasan took to her Instagram account to talk about the protest, but she did it sarcastically. She wrote, “Aarey = oxygen+ no flooding of rains. Mumbai needs metroshed. But there are alternative spaces! #aareyforest #saveaarey #saveitforourchildren (sic).”
This was a different way of supporting the protest and speaking against cutting down of trees. However, her fans have taken it seriously and criticised her online. People have even asked her of her reasons to say it since she doesn’t even take the metro.
Besides Shruthi, many actors like Farhan Akhtar, Shraddha Kapoor, Dia Mirza, Richa Chadha and others have also tweeted about the same issue. The whole nation has come forward to talk about this.
