Silver crown lost 50 years ago found in dump

A 300 gram silver crown that was stolen 50 years ago was found by a man who collects waste papers aka ‘kabadiwala’ in a dump 10 days ago. The incident took place in Singarayakonda of Prakasam district.

The man who found it approached a gold merchant in the town with the crown. The merchant after cleanly the crown found that it had been donated by a couple from Rachakonda, Gopal Krishniah and Venkata Subbamma in 1955. The couple had donated the crown to the Chandrasekhar Swamy temple in Chamullamudi village under Patticherukuru mandal of Guntur district.

However, in 1968, the crown was stolen by some unknown persons and since then there has been no clue of it. After receiving information from the merchant, the police handed over the crown to the temple administrative officer on Friday.
